Game discussion rather than a review.

Word of mouth from actual players is more useful than any scored review.

Is it just me or does anyone else feel the same way?

I am not sure that is always the case. Good to hear other people's experience

Pretty much where I landed after trying a few things. I have learned to be suspicious of any fix that requires you to change multiple things at once.

Worth trying before anything more drastic

I have seen that go wrong in practice. Task Manager tells you most of what you need to know if you know which columns to look at.

Start there and see if it makes a difference.

Ended up in the same place, yeah. Measure twice and all that, but also factor in that it always takes longer than you think.

Take your time with it and it will come out well.

Right now it's Kingdom Come: Deliverance II that's eating all my spare evenings. I jumped in thinking I'd just play for an hour, then suddenly it's after midnight and I've spent half that time trying to talk my way out of trouble instead of fighting.

The funny thing is I don't even mind the slower pace. Wandering into a village, getting distracted by some random quest, then forgetting what I originally planned to do has become the game loop for me :).

Been bouncing between Balatro and Helldivers 2 depending on how much brainpower I've got left after work.

One is perfect for switching off while the other has me laughing because every mission seems to end with someone accidentally calling an airstrike on the team. At this point it's basically tradition ;D

Monster Hunter Wilds has completely taken over my gaming time. Every session starts with the plan to hunt one monster for an upgrade.

Three hours later I've helped random players, crafted something I didn't know existed, and somehow still don't have the material I originally needed. That series has always been brilliant at pulling you into the "just one more hunt" trap.

Funny you mention word of mouth because that's exactly why I picked up Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. The reviews were good, but hearing actual players talk about the characters sold it.

No regrets so far. It's one of those games where I keep saying I'll stop after the next chapter, then another interesting scene pops up and there goes the evening.

Elden Ring is still somehow alive on my SSD. Every few months I tell myself I've seen everything.

Then I watch someone online walk into an area I've somehow missed after hundreds of hours. Makes me wonder what else I've run straight past without noticing.

Actually spending more time with indie games lately than the big AAA releases.

Picked up Dave the Diver on a whim and ended up completely hooked. It keeps introducing new mechanics just before the old ones start getting repetitive, which is clever design.

Going against the grain here because live service games just don't keep me hooked anymore.

Give me a solid single player campaign with a beginning and an ending. I'd rather finish something and remember it than feel like I'm checking into a second job every evening.
I bench press excuses more than actual weights

Nobody has mentioned No Man's Sky yet? That's the one I've drifted back to.

It's amazing how different it feels compared to launch. Sometimes I don't even accomplish much. I'll land on a random planet, scan wildlife for a while, build a tiny outpost, and call that a successful evening. Not every game needs to be full speed all the time.

Not really sinking time into anything massive at the moment. I've actually gone back to Stardew Valley again.

There's something oddly relaxing about tending crops for half an hour before bed. Then I notice it's 1am in real life because I absolutely had to finish one more in-game day :P
GG no re, rematch in the ring

That comment about things taking longer made me laugh because that's exactly how Satisfactory feels.

You build one factory thinking it's temporary. A few hours later you're tearing the whole thing down because you've come up with a cleaner layout. The factory must grow, even if my planning clearly doesn't :D.
Just here for the craic :)

Factorio is dangerous. That's the only warning I give people.

You sit down thinking you'll tidy up one production line, then suddenly you're redesigning your entire rail network because one copper belt looked slightly inefficient. Measure twice, rebuild five times. That's basically the game :).

The Witcher 3 somehow keeps pulling me back after all these years.

Instead of rushing the main story I'm wandering around picking up contracts I skipped before. It's funny how a replay can feel fresh simply because you make different choices.
Somewhere between a breakthrough & a bad dataset

Couldn't get into some of the newer releases people keep recommending, so I dusted off Project Zomboid instead.

Half the fun is surviving long enough to become attached to your character. Then you open one wrong door and that's the end of that story :'(.

Civilization VII has become my weekend game.

Every single session goes exactly the same way. I'll say, "Just another ten turns," then daylight disappears outside. Turn based games have a unique ability to bend time.

LostReece55

Marvel Rivals has been filling the multiplayer slot lately.

Some matches are absolute chaos, but when your whole team somehow clicks together it's a great laugh. Of course the very next game everyone runs off in different directions and reality comes crashing back ;)
Lurker since the beginning

Call me old fashioned but I'm replaying Skyrim again. Every time a new RPG comes out I think it'll finally replace it.

A week later I'm sneaking through Bleak Falls Barrow for what must be the twentieth time. It's become gaming comfort food at this point.
