It is that time of year when older online games start switching off. Pure Xbox has listed several Xbox games losing their servers or store listings over the coming months

Call of Duty: Warzone on Xbox One goes offline on 6 November 2026, a date originally tied to the start of Modern Warfare 4's first season. NBA 2K25 loses its servers at the end of the year, on 31 December

Synduality: Echo of Ada will switch off in game purchases on 18 December, with a full server closure planned for May 2027. Street Outlaws and Street Outlaws 2 will be removed from the Xbox Store at the end of December, so anyone wanting to redownload them later should buy them before then

Amazon's New World: Aeternum will also shut its servers at the end of January 2027. The article does not mention offline modes or refunds for any of these games

Shutdowns like this are a reminder of how much modern gaming depends on servers. Warzone on Xbox One makes sense as players have moved to newer consoles, and annual sports games always lose support eventually. It still strengthens the case for offline modes in games people pay for

Have you played any of these games? And should publishers be required to provide offline modes when servers close?
