Ubisoft is closing Rainbow Six Mobile less than a year after its global launch, VGC reports. The game was announced in April 2022 as a mobile version of Rainbow Six Siege, using popular Siege maps. It soft launched in 2023, launched fully in February 2026 and has run 15 seasons. It will remain available until 15 January 2027

The development team posted a message to players. It said there is no easy way to put it, and the team has made the difficult decision to sunset Rainbow Six Mobile. The next season will still release as planned the following week. The team said it will move on to other long term strategic projects and promised more details to help players with the transition

Siege itself is carrying on. Its creative director, Joshua Mills, said Ubisoft will not pull back during the GTA 6 launch window. He said the team will double down and reward players spending their valuable time with Siege. So the main game looks safe for now

Mobile shooters are a brutal market. Call of Duty Mobile and PUBG Mobile have huge audiences that are very hard to win over. Rainbow Six's slower, tactical style may never have suited short phone sessions. A long soft launch followed by a quick closure suggests the numbers were not there

Releasing a new season after announcing closure is a nice gesture for players who stuck with it. Still, anyone who spent money on cosmetics will be disappointed. Live service shutdowns always raise the question of what players own. Three months notice is better than some games get

Did anyone here play Rainbow Six Mobile? And do tactical shooters work on phones at all?

Question everything. Especially this.
