Esports has genuine global participation, professional infrastructure, and massive viewership especially among younger audiences If Olympics want relevance to modern generations they need to include esports rather than pretending it doesn't exist The skill ceiling is genuinely high and competitive esports requires reflexes, strategy, and teamwork just like traditional sports

The traditional Olympic values center around physical exertion and the human body's capabilities Esports requires none of that, so fundamentally it doesn't fit the Olympic ethos Bringing it in would dilute what the Olympics represents and turn it into a general competition of human skill rather than athletic achievement

But the Olympics has already included shooting and archery which are largely sedentary, so the line between physical and mental competition is already blurred Esports draws audiences that traditional Olympics can't reach, and refusing to acknowledge it seems stubborn and gatekeeping The next generation watches esports not gymnastics, so Olympic relevance depends on adapting to modern interests
