Shenmue fans will have to wait a little longer. Push Square reports that Shenmue 3 Enhanced, the PS5 re-release from publisher ININ Games and developer Ys Net, has slipped from 2026 into early 2027

The game's listing now shows 2027 for both the US and Europe. The news came through an ININ newsletter, first spotted by the fansite Shenmue Dojo

ININ said development is taking time to get everything right, and that it is finalising the last details. It promised to share more soon and said it is looking forward to the release in early 2027

Compared with the PS4 original, the new version is expected to add an optional stamina system and a reworked camera. The game's profile also lists Switch and Switch 2 versions. No specific date had been announced for 2026, so this is less of a surprise than some delays

A short delay to polish the game is fine if it improves the experience. Shenmue 3 had a mixed reception at launch, so tweaks to the camera and systems could help it find a bigger audience. Fans are used to waiting, given how long the third game took to arrive

Will you play Shenmue 3 Enhanced? And will we ever see Shenmue 4?
