Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds players are unhappy with SEGA after an old post from the game's official X account resurfaced. Push Square reports that the post, from 8 June 2025, appeared to promise that the Digital Deluxe Edition included the Season Pass and all future paid downloadable content. Over the weekend SEGA announced Season 2, and existing owners will need to buy it separately

Season 2 looks fun on paper, with content from Final Fantasy VII, Evangelion and Godzilla. The new Season Pass costs $29.99 or £24.99. At the same time, the base game has dropped to $39.99 or £34.99, and the Digital Deluxe Edition, which includes Season 1, is now $59.99 or £49.99

Push Square's Sammy Barker takes a balanced view. He points out that the image in the original post showed only the Season 1 roadmap, with unannounced slots greyed out. SEGA has delivered all of that content. In hindsight the wording was misleading, but Barker thinks calling SEGA liars is too harsh because Season 2 was not guaranteed when the post went up

He also gives SEGA credit for adding free content to the game, such as Axel from Crazy Taxi, with Bayonetta and Aigis on the way. That is more generous than many live service racers. He suggests SEGA may still respond to the backlash, perhaps with a discount for early adopters

This feels like a communication problem rather than a deliberate trick. Marketing teams should be careful with phrases like all future content, because players remember them. A goodwill gesture for Deluxe owners would probably calm things down quickly

Do you think SEGA owes Deluxe owners Season 2? And is the new content worth the price?
