A new free to play Gundam game is on the way. Gematsu reports that Bandai Namco and developer Bandai Namco Forge Digitals have announced Mobile Suit Gundam: Battle Operation 3 for PS5 and PC, with cross play between the two

The game focuses on large scale team battles between mobile suits. It also includes infantry gameplay on foot, such as planting bombs at enemy bases, calling in support fire and capturing objectives, along with a social hub called Base Camp

At launch it will cover Mobile Suit Gundam, The 08th MS Team, 0083: Stardust Memory and Gundam SEED. Two or three more series from alternative Gundam universes are planned during the first year

The game will support English, Japanese, Korean and both Traditional and Simplified Chinese. A Japan only cross play network test runs on 20 and 22 November, and an open test is planned but not yet dated. There is no release date yet

Battle Operation 2 built a loyal following on PlayStation, so bringing the sequel to PC as well should widen its audience. Infantry gameplay adds an interesting new layer to the mech battles. Gundam fans will be keen to see how the network test goes

Are you a Gundam fan who will try Battle Operation 3? And do infantry modes add much to mech games?

Works on my machine :D
