The studio behind Kingdom Come: Deliverance has been hit by hackers. Push Square reports that Warhorse Studios, the Czech developer, has confirmed a cyberattack in a statement on its website and social media

The statement says the incident involved unauthorised access to company systems and to company data. Warhorse says it is working with cybersecurity specialists to secure its systems and understand the full extent of what happened, and that it will share more information as soon as it responsibly can

Chief executive Martin Frývaldský called it a serious incident for Warhorse and everyone affected. He said the priorities are securing systems, establishing the full extent of the breach, and protecting employees, partners and the community

Push Square had seen no sign of leaked information when the article was written, but notes that confidential details could still emerge. The attack comes less than a week after Capcom disclosed a breach of its Capcom ID system. The attacker, the method used and the data accessed are all still unknown

Game studios are increasingly attractive targets because of unreleased projects, source code and staff data. Warhorse has been open about the attack early, which is good practice. Fans will hope nothing to do with future projects ends up leaking

Why are game studios being targeted so often? And how should developers protect unreleased work?
