Hideo Kojima is heading into Night City again. VGC's Chris Scullion reports that the Metal Gear and Death Stranding creator will appear in the second season of Netflix's anime Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, which starts on Tuesday 20 October

Kojima reprises Hideyoshi Oshima, the braindance producer he voiced in Cyberpunk 2077. Players could find Oshima sitting at a back table in the hotel bar during The Heist mission. Braindance is the game's technology for recording and replaying complete sensory experiences, so a film and game obsessed character suits Kojima perfectly

The official Edgerunners account announced the role on X, with a nod to his Konpeki Plaza appearance in the game. Kotaku also covered the news, which fans of both Kojima and Cyberpunk have welcomed

VGC points out that Kojima has cyberpunk history of his own. His 1988 game Snatcher, released on PC-8801 and MSX2 computers, was a cyberpunk adventure heavily inspired by Blade Runner. Its only English release came on the Sega CD, also known as the Mega CD in Europe

Cameos like this are a lot of fun, and Kojima clearly enjoys them. The first season of Edgerunners was a huge hit and helped revive interest in Cyberpunk 2077. Expectations for season two are high

Are you watching Edgerunners season 2? And what was your favourite Kojima cameo?

Studio Trigger's animation style suits Night City. The colours and energy are wonderful. Hopefully season two looks just as good
