Will it be the year . I need to plan my life around it
Coffee first. Questions later.

ArVeeDee

Definitely book some time off for when it's released but the other half is another matter

JohnyBlue

I take it you are ready for it

He is always ready for a mega game

Fox

Yeah can't really argue with that. Would recommend giving it a go

Wendy5

I am not sure that is always the case. Same here really.

Cheers

Still waiting for a proper date before planning anything. The amount of people saying they will take a week off work is funny though. Then again, if this game is half as big as expected, disappearing for a few days might be the sensible option. ;)

The real question is whether everyone will actually get time to play or just spend the first week watching clips online because servers are busy.

TomTiz

The hype is getting massive, but that can be dangerous. People are building this perfect version in their heads and no game can match an imaginary version.

Still, Rockstar have earned some patience after the quality of their previous releases. A lot of studios would love to have that level of trust.
Always open to a good discussion

Scarlet Annie

If it drops this year, my social life is in serious trouble. :D

There is always that one game where everyone says "just one more hour" and suddenly it is 3am.
Still the champ until the next update drops

MidnightBear

Not convinced it is guaranteed. Rockstar are famous for taking their time, and I would rather see another delay than a rushed launch.

A polished game that arrives later is much better than a broken one arriving on schedule.

David74

The funny part is people have been saying "this year" for ages. At this point GTA fans have developed their own calendar system based around rumours. ;D

Still, whenever it does arrive, the first few weeks are going to be absolutely everywhere.

Badger27

A lot depends on what Rockstar want from launch. If they are aiming for another decade-long online experience, they will probably be very careful about getting the foundations right.

The pressure must be enormous because everyone expects it to redefine open world games.

WearyCoder

The map and details are what interest me most. Graphics will obviously be impressive, but the little things are what made previous games memorable.

Random conversations, strange side missions and things happening when you are not looking are where Rockstar usually shines.
Just here for the craic :)

Undertaker

People forget how huge GTA V became. Following that up is not just making another game, it is trying to follow one of the biggest entertainment products ever made.

No pressure then. ;)
Be excellent to each other

JohnyBlue

Would love a release this year, but I am prepared for the classic Rockstar move of announcing something and then moving it later.

Fans complain, but the same fans will probably forgive them five minutes after release if the game is good.

The thing I want most is freedom to just mess around. Some of the best GTA moments were not missions, just random things happening while exploring.

That is difficult to advertise but easy to appreciate when playing.

Rachel

One thing people should remember is that launch day is rarely the best version of a huge online game.

Even the biggest companies struggle when millions of players all arrive at once.

Gareth5

The first weekend after release will be chaos. Every gaming forum will be full of people saying it is either the greatest game ever or a complete disaster.

The truth will probably be somewhere in the middle. :)
My team is always one signing away

Kieron78

A delay would annoy people, but a rushed GTA would annoy them much more. We have seen enough broken launches recently to know that.

Take the extra time and get it right.

MickFoley

Not rushing it is probably the best move. A release date is exciting, but a game that people still talk about years later is the real goal.

If Rockstar delivers another world people want to explore, the wait will be forgotten quickly.
Cashback on everything or it didn't happen

ForgeWarden15

The wait has been long enough that my younger self who first heard about it is now older and paying bills. That is the true open world experience. :P

Hopefully the game is worth the journey.
GG no re, rematch in the ring

Brandon_62

The expectations are almost impossible now. People are not just comparing it to other games, they are comparing it to memories of playing previous GTA titles.

That is a tough opponent for any developer.
Lurker since the big bang

Dylan99

If it arrives this year, goodbye productivity. There will be people pretending to work while secretly checking every corner of the map. :D

At least everyone will have the same excuse for being tired.

Aidan

Rockstar are one of the few companies where I would believe a long development cycle is actually being used properly.

They have shown they care about details, even tiny ones most players never notice.
Quantum computer said maybe, so I'm calling it a win

Eastern Aaron

I think the bigger debate will be whether GTA 6 changes expectations for other games. Rockstar usually pushes the standard forward.

Other developers will probably spend years trying to copy whatever works here.

HardyBoy_WCW

The online side will be fascinating. A huge amount of players will probably spend more time there than in the story mode.

Hopefully they keep a strong single player experience too because that is what made the series special.

Ivory Will

I am ready for the internet to become 90 percent GTA clips overnight. Someone will discover a random funny bug and it will become the biggest thing on social media. ;)

That is part of the fun with these games though.
