PC players may not have to wait long for Grand Theft Auto 6. VGC reports on a GamesBeat story, which cites four anonymous industry sources, saying Rockstar plans to release the PC version in the first quarter of 2027. That would mean a launch by the end of March

GTA 6 launches on PS5 and Xbox Series X and S on 19 November. If the report is right, PC players would wait four months at most. That would be much quicker than Rockstar's usual pattern. GTA 5 took one year and seven months to reach PC, and GTA 4 took around seven months

VGC also brings in comments from former Rockstar producer John Ricchio, who worked on Red Dead Redemption, Max Payne 3 and GTA 5. Speaking to Kiwi Talkz earlier this year, he explained that launching on consoles first is about managing resources, not snubbing PC players. Building for fixed console hardware first avoids problems that come from starting on PC and porting later

It is important to stress that this is a report from unnamed sources. Neither Rockstar nor Take-Two has confirmed a PC release date. Rockstar has a habit of announcing things in its own time, so official news may not come until after the console launch

Still, a short gap would be great news for PC players, and it would make sense commercially. PC versions bring a second wave of sales, and modding communities tend to keep Rockstar games alive for years. A spring 2027 release would let PC players join the fun while the game is still fresh

Will you buy on console or wait for PC? And how long do you think the gap will turn out to be?
