Gears of War: E-Day brings back classic Guardian mode for the 20th anniversary

Gears of War fans have a nostalgic treat for the series' anniversary. Pure Xbox reports that Gears of War: E-Day has revived the classic Guardian versus mode as part of its 20th anniversary celebrations

Guardian, a series staple since Gears of War 2, gives each team a leader, and the round ends when one team's leader dies. The mode's description sums it up: only one leader makes it out alive

There is also a limited time Horde Siege mission called For the Queen, which disables supply caches, so players must survive on their starting gear and whatever they can salvage

New playlists, rewards, anniversary challenges, skins, banners and poses are available now. No end dates or maps have been given for the limited time content

Guardian is one of the most tactical modes in Gears history, because protecting the leader forces teamwork. Bringing it back is a smart way to celebrate the series' roots. Horde without supply caches sounds properly challenging for veteran players
