Games Workshop just gave its silliest Ork Warboss a proper glow-up, and he's crossing into Total War

Nazdreg Ug Urdgrub, described in Games Workshop's own announcement as the galaxy's greatest Bad Moon and self proclaimed second best Warboss in the universe, is returning to Warhammer 40,000 with a brand new miniature ahead of the upcoming Codex: Orks. The model reworks the classic 2nd edition figure while keeping small nods to the original, including the kneepads, gutplate and banner design

His new mega armour carries the Kustom Blasta X, a three profile weapon he can fire in full all at once, unusual for anything resembling a combi-weapon, and he hits on a respectable 4+ despite Ork weapons famously being unreliable in the tabletop game. His melee weapon, the claw Moonchewa, comes with Cleave and Damage 3, making him a genuine threat against elite infantry squads. On top of that, he lets his unit Deep Strike, auto passes battleshock nearby, and can trigger Waaagh-like effects on demand, adding up to a genuinely strong all rounder unit rather than a novelty character

Despite not getting a new model release in decades, Nazdreg has stayed a consistent presence in 40K lore, tangling with warlord Ghazgkhull Thraka at both Piscina IV and Armageddon, and even getting into a shootout with the Farsight Enclaves at one point

The character isn't staying confined to the tabletop either, Games Workshop confirmed Nazdreg will be a playable character in the upcoming Total War: Warhammer 40,000 video game, featuring heavily in early narrative content tied to the pivotal battles around Armageddon. The new miniature releases alongside Codex: Orks in a few weeks, and Total War: Warhammer 40,000 is currently available to wishlist on Steam

Being able to fire all three profiles of the Kustom Blasta X at once instead of picking one like a normal combi-weapon is such a fun, over the top rules design that fits an Ork character perfectly
