Final Fantasy XIV's next expansion is arriving a little later than planned. Gematsu reports that Square Enix has delayed Evercold, the 8.0 expansion, from January 2027 to 23 February 2027

Early access will start on 19 February, and pre-orders open on 4 November. The collector's edition includes a Reaper figure, a metal keychain, a small plush, a tapestry and a special art box, although no price has been given

New trailers revealed a new job called Zephyr, which GamesRadar describes as a ranged damage dealer using crossbows and a pet bird. They also showed two new areas, Sessrymnir and Skioblaonir, described as the Realmships of Earth and Wind

There was also a dungeon showcase and a trailer for a collaboration with Evangelion called Ghosts of Desire. Final Fantasy XIV is available on PS5, Xbox Series X and S, Switch 2, PS4 and PC. No reason was given for the delay

A four week delay is minor for a game of this size, and most players would rather have a polished launch. A crossbow job with a bird companion sounds fun and different. February is busy, but Final Fantasy XIV fans are loyal

Will you be playing Evercold at launch? And what do you think of the Zephyr job?

Realmships of Earth and Wind are intriguing names. The setting seems very different from Dawntrail

Variety keeps the game fresh. Snow and ice suit the Evercold name
