Voice and performance actor Debra Wilson has worked on a remarkable list of games, including Wolfenstein, Star Wars Jedi, Death Stranding, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League and Marvel's Wolverine. Kotaku's Zack Kotzer reports that she does not know why so many of her characters end up looking like her

She raised the topic on Joseph Shepherd's podcast Hyperfixated. Wilson explained that developers usually decide whether to use an actor's likeness, not the performer. She prefers roles where the character does not resemble her, because it makes it easier to disappear into the part

The podcast was recorded before Marvel's Wolverine came out, where she voices Callisto, leader of the Morlocks. The clip has been doing the rounds again since the game's release

Developer Del Walker, who worked on Star Wars Jedi and Suicide Squad, posted on X last month praising Wilson's audition tapes. He compared her to 1996 Michael Jordan, which is about as high as praise gets

It is an interesting insight into how game casting works. Likeness scanning has become common with performance capture, and actors do not always get a say. Wilson's talent clearly makes studios want as much of her as possible

Should actors have more say over whether their likeness is used? And which Debra Wilson performance is your favourite?
