Remedy's Control Resonant has sold more than one million copies in three weeks. PC Gamer's Andy Chalk reports that this makes it the fastest selling game in the Finnish studio's 31 year history. Alan Wake 2, Remedy's previous big release, took two months to reach the same milestone

PC Gamer puts the figure in context. It is not especially fast by industry standards, citing The Blood of Dawnwalker, which sold a million in three days, and Subnautica 2, which sold two million in 12 hours. But for Remedy, which makes ambitious single player games, it is a very strong start

Profit is the bigger question for the studio. Alan Wake 2 needed more than a year and two million sales to break even. Remedy's finances depend on how well Control Resonant keeps selling over the coming months

Chief executive Jean-Charles Gaudechon, who joined in February 2026 to lead the company into profitable growth, called it a very strong start. He pointed out that it is Remedy's first self published release on this scale and that it launched alongside major competing games. He also said Remedy now has two established franchises, Control and Alan Wake, to build on

Remedy makes some of the most distinctive games around, with strange stories and memorable worlds. It is good to see a studio like that finding commercial success with self publishing. More details on the game's financial impact should come in Remedy's quarterly update on 3 November

Have you played Control Resonant yet? And should Remedy keep self publishing its games?

Undefeated, unless you count every practice match
