A promising medieval sandbox game is fighting for survival. PC Gamer reports that Raw Power Games, the studio behind Chronicles: Medieval, says its funding has been withdrawn and it is at real risk of closing

Chronicles: Medieval is an open world sandbox with large scale medieval battles. It has been in development for more than four years and was due to launch in Steam early access in early 2027

In a statement on Friday, the studio said that due to circumstances outside its control, the necessary funding is no longer in place, and that without it, it cannot keep building the game. It added that what makes it hurt is how close it is, because early access is within reach, and said it is not going down without a fight

The studio is looking for new funding and has asked fans to keep the game on their wishlists and keep talking about it. The article suggests the game may be close to a releasable state, which could help attract investors, but it is unclear how long the studio can keep going

Losing funding so close to launch is a painful situation, and sadly a common one in today's industry. Wishlists do matter to investors and publishers, so fan support can make a difference. Hopefully someone sees the potential and steps in
