Another UK games studio is cutting jobs. Gematsu reports that Auroch Digital, the studio behind Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun, Boltgun II, Warhammer Survivors and Starship Troopers: Ultimate Bug War, has started a redundancy consultation affecting around a quarter of its roles

The studio said the same market conditions that have challenged so many fellow developers have now affected it too, calling this a turbulent and uncertain time in the industry

Auroch Digital said post-launch support for Warhammer Survivors and Boltgun II will continue. It apologised to the staff affected, said supporting them is its priority, and asked hiring partners to consider its developers

Gematsu lists the Bristol based studio as part of Sumo Digital. No exact number of affected staff has been given, and the figure could change during the consultation. The information comes from the studio's own social media post

Boltgun was a lovely surprise, a retro shooter that understood exactly what Warhammer fans wanted. It is sad to see a talented team hit by cuts after several solid releases. The wider industry continues to struggle, even for studios making well liked games

Have you played Boltgun or Boltgun II? And why do you think even successful studios are cutting jobs?
