Going to say something that might annoy people, infinite scroll feeds genuinely make forums worse rather than better, replacing deliberate navigation between distinct threads with an endless undifferentiated stream that discourages actually engaging deeply with any single conversation. Traditional paginated threads forced a natural stopping point that infinite scroll deliberately removes to maximize time spent scrolling instead. Change my mind if you've got a genuinely strong counterargument here

The usual pushback is that infinite scroll genuinely reduces friction and keeps people engaged longer, which I'll grant is technically true but don't think engagement time automatically equals a genuinely better actual experience. Curious if anyone's got a solid argument for why more scrolling actually serves the reader rather than just the platform's engagement metrics

So change my mind if you can. Genuinely open to a good counterargument here
