Raising this because it has been obvious for a while and the volume keeps growing. The Money and Finance section is increasingly dominated by investment discussions. Stock picks, ETF analysis, crypto portfolio strategy, IPO speculation, the whole lot. That is not a problem in itself except that it is crowding out the other things Money and Finance was meant to cover: personal budgeting, debt questions, mortgage discussions, savings rates, general financial literacy topics. Someone asking about the best way to consolidate debt is getting buried under threads about whether to buy SPCX or wait for the Anthropic IPO.

The obvious fix is a dedicated Investing subforum or board sitting alongside Money and Finance rather than inside it. Investment discussion keeps its community and its momentum, general money topics get breathing room again. The forum already has enough active users in the investing threads to sustain their own dedicated space. Given how much of our AI and quantum content overlaps with investment discussion anyway, a dedicated board would also give us somewhere sensible to cross-link when a quantum computing story has obvious portfolio implications. The alternative is doing nothing and watching the imbalance get worse, which seems like the worse outcome. Keen to hear what other members think before taking this to the mods.

Would you use a dedicated Investing board, and what should it cover that the current Money and Finance section does not handle well?
RTFM and then ask

Yes please. I asked a question about ISAs three weeks ago and it got zero replies because the front page of Money and Finance was entirely IPO speculation threads. The section has completely changed character

Freddy95

The cross-link point is a good one. Half the quantum threads end up drifting into should I buy IonQ or XNDU territory and there is nowhere natural to send that conversation

Splitting active communities always carries risk. If you separate Investing from Money and Finance you might just end up with two quieter boards instead of one busy one. Worth thinking through before doing it

I would want the Investing board to have subfolders for at least: stocks and ETFs, crypto and digital assets, IPOs and new listings, and portfolio strategy. Lumping all of that into one board still gets chaotic

WaveFunction

The debt and budgeting stuff is genuinely valuable and it is getting drowned. Those threads help real people with real problems. They deserve visibility and right now they are not getting it
ISA maxed. Costs minimised.

ShadowPilot

Could also solve this with pinning and tagging rather than a new board. Tag investment threads as investing and tag general finance threads as personal finance then filter works for anyone who wants it

Given that this forum covers AI and quantum specifically I think the investing angle is always going to be big here. Our audience naturally thinks about the investment implications of tech. A dedicated board makes sense for us specifically

Who moderates the new board is the practical question. Good investing discussion needs moderators who can spot pump-and-dump patterns and low-quality tips masquerading as analysis
