We need a darker theme. Vote

Have you tried turning it off and on again?

Qdayforum.com

But I'd probably go with qday.forum

Not gonna lie, I had not thought of it that way. Going to look that up properly

SpinorWave

Can't argue with that. Nice one. 8)

Yeah that sounds about right. Multiplayer games live or die on whether the people you play with are decent.

Worth a try if you get the chance

Highland Builder

I would only bother if the saving is real and not just headline nonsense. Not a life changer but it adds up

A darker theme gets my vote. Some of us browse forums at night and the bright white screen feels like staring into a small sun at 1am :)

A proper dark mode with good contrast would be useful rather than just turning everything black and calling it a day.

Would love to see a few more options rather than just dark versus light. Maybe a classic theme, a modern minimalist one and something a bit more colourful for people who want personality.

Half the fun of forums is making them feel like your own little corner of the internet.

AustinTheory

Dark theme definitely sounds good, but please do not go with the trend where everything becomes grey text on slightly darker grey. My eyes are not taking an exam in low contrast :P

Readable should come before looking fancy.

Cobalt Sophie

A retro theme would be interesting. Something inspired by old forums from the early internet days, but with modern usability.

Not saying we need blinking text and 14 different fonts though. We have suffered enough ;)

DeadChat

The idea of user-selectable themes would be the best route. People have different preferences, so giving everyone one design forever usually means someone is unhappy.

A small theme selector could make a big difference without changing the whole site.

Dark mode is almost expected now. Even my fridge probably has a night mode somewhere these days :D

As long as it is done properly, I think most people would appreciate it. The important part is keeping images, buttons and quoted posts looking clear.

NatureBoy86

I would rather see improvements to existing themes before adding loads of new ones. A beautiful theme is nice, but broken spacing or unreadable sections will annoy people quickly.

Polish the foundations first, then add the fancy wallpaper.

A seasonal theme could be amusing. Nothing too serious, but little changes around holidays or events could make the place feel active.

Just promise nobody suggests animated snow falling over every post. We have learned from the past :)

Cass_9

Would definitely try a new theme, but only if it keeps the forum feeling like a forum. Some redesigns make everything look like a corporate app and remove the personality.

A little rough around the edges is part of the charm.

Harry

Please include an option that is easy on older devices. Some themes look amazing but load like they are preparing a space launch.

Fast and clean beats flashy every time.

Dark mode gets my vote, but I would also like a compact layout option. Modern screens are huge, yet some sites still make you scroll through enormous empty spaces.

More information per screen would be great.

Sequence

I am all for more themes as long as there is a simple default option for people who do not care. Some users just want to click the bookmark and start reading.

Choice is great, but nobody wants a theme selection screen that feels like choosing a new car ;D

LatentSpace

A high contrast theme would be useful too. Not everyone wants the same colours, and accessibility options are often overlooked.

A theme is not just decoration. It changes how comfortable the site is to use.

Lucky Dean

A nature inspired theme could be fun. Something subtle with darker greens or earth tones instead of another black and blue design.

Forums spend so much time looking like software dashboards. A bit of character would not hurt :)
Posted from a machine that definitely needs a clean install

A custom accent colour option would be a nice middle ground. Let people choose a favourite colour without creating a dozen separate themes to maintain.

Everyone gets a little personal touch and the developers do not get buried under theme requests ;)
Powerbombed my keyboard, it deserved it

The saving point mentioned is important. Same with themes, small improvements add up if people use the site every day.

A darker theme might not sound like a major feature, but something viewed for hours deserves attention.
