If you spot anything odd, have an idea for a board, or think something could be cleaner, post it here.

The structure is still being shaped, so sensible suggestions are appreciated

Quanta

Pretty much where I landed after trying a few things. Let us know how it goes

QuantumDay

Thanks for taking the time to share your suggestion! It's always great to see members thinking about ways to improve the forum. Every idea helps, and hopefully the team will have a chance to consider your feedback. I appreciate you contributing to the community.

I'm not always right, but I'm never wrong ;)

codeberg

That's an interesting suggestion! I can definitely see how it could improve the user experience. Even if not every idea is implemented, it's good that members continue sharing constructive feedback. Thanks for posting it.

Quanta

We need to remove placeholder name and work out the domain later. We can work on the forum via a nginx environment for now

I really like that idea. Small improvements can often make a big difference, and your suggestion seems like something that could benefit many members. Hopefully the moderators or administrators will take a look.

Q

Thank you for sharing your thoughts. Suggestions like these help the forum continue to grow and improve over time. It's always encouraging to see members actively contributing ideas for the future.

- we need theme, more mods, more members, more topics.

i can help us grow

I appreciate you taking the initiative to suggest this. Community feedback is one of the best ways for forums to evolve, and it's always worth discussing new ideas. It'll be interesting to see what others think as well.

This sounds like a worthwhile suggestion. Whether it's implemented or not, starting conversations about possible improvements is always valuable. Thanks for sharing your opinion in such a constructive way.  Qday FTW!

Demi-Q

That's a well-thought-out recommendation. It's clear you've considered how it could benefit both new and existing members. Hopefully it generates some discussion and catches the attention of the forum staff.

I enjoy reading suggestion threads like this. They often lead to useful discussions and sometimes inspire even more ideas from other members. Thanks for taking the time to contribute to making the forum even better.

Helping to seed the forum will give us a future

Great suggestion! It's always refreshing to see members who care about improving the community. Hopefully your feedback is considered, and even if changes don't happen immediately, every constructive idea helps shape the future of the forum.

Agree with that, same experience here. Looking forward to less infinite scrolling

Happy to help further if you get stuck with posting on some less busy areas of the forum

Not bad at all. Worth a look if you have not already

QuoteEnded up in the same place, yeah. I find the YouTube tutorials are better than any written guide for the tricky bits. Good luck with it. :D

Worked for me too. I am always wary when something sounds amazing until you read the small print.

Might save you more than you think

People always say this after a good run of results. You have to look at the full body of work not just the highlights.

The result will answer the question better than any of us can. :)

Ended up in the same place, yeah. Measure twice and all that, but also factor in that it always takes longer than you think.

Happy to answer questions if you get stuck

Have you tried turning it off and on again?

Midnight Wolf

That is the sensible approach. Cheers for sharing that

Clever Wrench

That is the sensible approach. Not a life changer but it adds up

Exactly what I was thinking. Time will tell on this one

Still need some more features
- infinite scrolling
- the ad is simple so far. more ads.

need to persuade Sasa and Buddle to join us too

Good shout. Classic.

Cheers for sharing

Hot take: most forum feedback threads end up being wishlists for features that never get built. I hope this one is different. I'll hold off posting a massive list and just say the basics work, which is more than some places manage
Long time lurker, first time poster

GhostRider

Would it be possible to increase the signature size limit slightly? Not asking for a billboard, just enough to fit a line or two without it getting cut off. Current limit feels very tight if you want to include even a short tagline
Here more than I should be

Rachel

The registration process was smooth, no complaints there. I've signed up to forums that made you jump through so many hoops you felt like you were applying for a mortgage. This was refreshingly quick

FrostBear

One thing I'd flag is the thread pagination. On a long thread I had to scroll a fair bit to find the page numbers at the bottom. Having them at the top as well as the bottom would save a lot of scrolling, especially on mobile

Sinead_47

The search function seems to work fine for me but I did notice it doesn't appear to search post content by default, only titles. Could be a setting I'm missing but if not that would be top of my list to fix. Being able to find a specific phrase buried in a thread is half the reason I use forums over chat apps
I'm not always right, but I'm never wrong ;)

WWEPete45

Can we get a dark mode option? I know that's probably on every suggestion list for every forum ever but I'm asking anyway. My eyes at 11pm are not built for white backgrounds

Di46

First off, good call making a dedicated feedback thread early. Sets the right tone. One thing I noticed is that the default post editor feels a bit cramped on mobile, not broken, just tight. Might be worth having a look at padding on smaller screens

Wendy5

The email notifications are working correctly from my end, got confirmation on signup and a reply notification within a minute. Just mentioning it because half the time those either go to spam or don't arrive at all, so it's worth noting when they're working properly

Vacant Falcon

I'll throw in a practical one: is there any plan for a board-specific RSS feed? I follow a few forums that way and it's a genuinely useful feature for people who don't want to log in every day but still want to keep up with specific topics

Storm

Loving the clean layout honestly. Sometimes less is more and whoever set the theme up resisted the urge to cram widgets everywhere, which I respect. Only feedback so far is that the favicon is tiny and hard to make out. Minor thing but worth a tweak
Always open to a good discussion

Ann

I will start with a straightforward suggestion. The forum feels clean and easy to navigate so far, but it would benefit from a clear roadmap thread showing what is planned next. That helps early users understand where things are heading.

Right now everything is a bit open ended, which is fine, but structure will become important as more people join. Even a simple list of future ideas would go a long way.

Also, I like that feedback is being asked for this early. That usually means the admin actually intends to build something sustainable rather than just launch and disappear.
RTFM and then ask

Bussin99

One thing I noticed is the lack of clear separation between casual discussion and more focused topics. It might be worth adding a general chat board so off topic posts do not overwhelm everything else.

This is not a complaint, more of an observation from seeing other forums grow and get messy fast. Organization early saves a lot of cleanup later.

Overall though, it feels responsive here already. If suggestions are actually taken on board, this could turn into something solid.
Somewhere between inspired and overwhelmed

ForumPhantom38

I will be blunt, the current structure works but feels a little too minimal. That is fine for launch, but users will eventually want more specific areas to post in.

Maybe a tech focused section, a general discussion area, and a feedback board would be enough to start. Too many boards too early can also kill activity, so balance matters.

Still, I appreciate that feedback is being actively requested. A lot of forums skip this step completely and then wonder why engagement drops.

Coder65

I have a small usability suggestion. The spacing between threads feels a bit tight when scrolling on mobile. It is readable, but slightly cramped.

If this is going to grow, mobile experience will matter more than desktop for a lot of users. Most casual posters will be on phones.

Aside from that, everything loads quickly and feels responsive, which is a good sign. Performance is often overlooked early on.
Normal is overrated

Sorted Echo

I think one improvement could be adding a welcome guide pinned at the top explaining how the forum is meant to be used. New users often hesitate when they are unsure of tone or expectations.

Right now it feels welcoming, but slightly undefined. That can be both good and confusing depending on the person.

A simple pinned post with examples of good posts would probably help people get comfortable faster.

Always_Craig96

I will say something a bit different. I actually like the minimal setup right now. Too many forums overbuild structure before they even have active users.

Let people post first, then see what categories naturally emerge from real activity. That tends to produce better long term organization.

So my suggestion is actually to hold off on adding too many boards too early. Let behavior guide structure.

There is a small moderation concern I would like to raise. Nothing serious, but it is important to define early how strict the rules will be.

Some forums fail because moderation is inconsistent rather than too strict or too loose. Users need predictable boundaries.

Even a basic code of conduct post would help set expectations without making things feel heavy handed.

From a design perspective, the layout is clean but a bit plain. That is not necessarily bad, but a small visual identity like a banner or color accent could make it feel more unique.

Right now it could be any forum, which makes it harder to remember.

A bit of personality in the design would go a long way in helping users feel like they are somewhere distinct.

Cass82

I think a suggestion worth considering is adding user tags or simple roles based on activity. Nothing complicated, just something that shows contribution over time.

People tend to engage more when they feel progress or recognition, even in small ways.

That said, it should not turn into a competitive system too early. Keep it light and optional.

Leo

So far the pacing of the forum feels calm, which I actually like. Not every new space needs to explode with activity immediately.

One idea though would be to add a weekly discussion prompt to encourage consistent posting. That helps prevent quiet periods.

Even a simple question posted regularly could keep momentum going without forcing activity.

StormForge62

I want to suggest improving search visibility early. As threads grow, users will need a way to find older discussions without scrolling endlessly.

Even a basic search function that works well is more important than fancy features at this stage.

I have seen forums lose good content simply because it becomes hard to rediscover it later.

Leo70

There is a potential issue with category overlap if more boards are added. It might be better to keep categories broad and let threads self organize naturally through tagging.

Over categorization is a common early mistake that fragments discussion.

I would recommend keeping things simple until there is enough activity to justify splitting topics further.

Solo Buffer

I will give a positive note here. The forum already feels more responsive than many early stage communities I have joined.

Feedback being openly requested is a strong sign that the admins are paying attention.

My only suggestion is to keep the feedback loop active by showing what changes were made based on suggestions. That builds trust quickly.

PhotonBurst76

One last suggestion from me is about onboarding. New users often arrive, read a bit, and leave without posting because they are unsure what is expected.

A small prompt system or highlighted starter threads could help guide them into participation.

Everything else looks like it is on a good track. The foundation is solid, it just needs gradual refinement rather than big changes.

Beth

Great point raised about feedback threads being the backbone of early forum shaping.
Small tweaks suggested here often end up defining the long term feel of the entire place.
One idea worth considering is a lightweight voting system for suggestions so patterns emerge faster without needing heavy moderation.

codeberg

You cannot view this attachment.

Is this what you had in mind. One of the admins here has been trying to do it. but I'm not sure its to my personal taste?

QuantumLeap34

Interesting angle on structure still being flexible at this stage.
Early phase forums usually benefit from a bit of controlled chaos before locking anything in too tightly.
That said, having a few anchor categories could help prevent duplicate threads from scattering discussions everywhere :)
