The last job was replacing a leaking kitchen tap cartridge. The drip had progressed from mildly annoying to a metronome that kept me awake, so I shut off the isolation valves, removed the handle and cartridge, and took the old part to the hardware shop to match it properly.

Getting the retaining nut loose was the hardest part because it had apparently been installed by a gorilla with a grudge. Once the new cartridge was in, the tap worked perfectly and I felt disproportionately proud of saving the cost of a callout. The important lesson was taking a photo before disconnecting anything; future me needed the evidence :)
