DIY projects have already gotten easier thanks to better tutorials and more accessible tools, but there's clearly more room to grow. Curious what everyone thinks actually changes next for how people tackle projects at home. Doesn't need to be dramatic, just genuinely useful

My hope is for tools that genuinely guide beginners through complex projects step by step without needing to pause and look things up constantly. Some early versions of this already exist in a few apps honestly. Would love to see that mature into something genuinely seamless and reliable

Share your hopeful prediction below for how DIY projects get easier over time. Curious what different improvements people imagine

ProperMadLad

Materials becoming genuinely smarter, self leveling concrete or paint that dries perfectly evenly without much skill required, would help so many beginners avoid the frustrating mistakes that usually discourage people from trying a second project. Small material improvements matter more than people give them credit for. Hoping that trend continues steadily

Safety features on power tools improving to the point where serious beginner accidents become genuinely rare would remove one of the biggest legitimate fears keeping people from even attempting bigger projects. Some tools already have decent safety improvements built in currently. Hoping that becomes the universal standard rather than a premium feature

Community knowledge becoming easier to search through and trust, rather than sorting through hundreds of conflicting tutorials of wildly varying quality, would save so much frustration during the actual planning stage of a project.

Currently finding genuinely reliable advice takes way more effort than it should. A better filtered system would genuinely help beginners most of all

Repair focused resources becoming more mainstream, actually teaching people to fix things rather than just replace them automatically, feels like a genuinely hopeful direction the whole DIY culture keeps slowly heading toward. Right to repair momentum is already helping push this along. Would love to see that become the fully normal default eventually

Better tools for accurately measuring and cutting without needing years of practiced skill would genuinely open DIY up to way more people who currently feel intimidated before even starting. Precision has always been such a real barrier for total beginners. Removing that friction feels like a genuinely worthwhile goal

Tool rental and sharing becoming way more accessible and normalized would help so many people tackle bigger projects without the upfront cost of buying expensive equipment they'll only use once. Some services already do decent versions of this. Hoping that becomes way more widespread and genuinely convenient over the coming years
