Fresh running thread for deals and freebies, since the old one got long enough to have a postcode. The format that works, post the item, the price and where, why it is actually a deal meaning the normal price it undercuts, and when it ends if you know

House rules to keep this useful. Check the price history before posting, half the internet's sales are a markup wearing a discount sticker, and price tracking sites take ten seconds. No referral or affiliate links, post the plain link and keep it honest. Mark anything you have not personally verified as unverified so nobody burns money on your maybe

Freebies count double, genuinely free software, open source gems, free entry days, student and library perks people forget exist. Some of the best posts in the old thread cost nothing at all

And with the big July sales season upon us, a reminder that a deal on a thing you do not need is just spending with extra steps. Let the finds begin

The price history rule should be stickied in flashing text. Checked one famous sale last year and a third of my wishlist was cheaper in March

Freebie to start us off, your local library card almost certainly includes free ebook, audiobook and magazine apps that people pay subscriptions to avoid learning about

The library one is real and criminally underused. My card saves me more than any sale in this thread will

Question for the thread, do refurbished items count as deals or do they need their own labelled category? Some of the manufacturer refurb stores are the best value in tech

Amelia82

Refurb counts if you state the warranty. Refurb with full warranty is a deal, refurb with 90 days is a gamble at a discount
Coach says my form's good, my code says otherwise

PSA for sale season, the fake countdown timer is not a law of physics. If a deal evaporates and you missed it, a nearly identical one is statistically days away
The truth is usually more complicated than the headline

Unverified as per rules, hearing one of the big supermarkets does a free kids meal scheme all summer holidays, can anyone local confirm before I post details?

SuperPosition78

Can confirm the kids meal thing exists at several chains, terms vary, will dig out the list and post verified versions tonight
Cityzens.

A vote of appreciation for the no referral rule, every other deals community drowned in it and the recommendations rot instantly once posters profit

The spending with extra steps line needs to be my phone wallpaper during every sale event, see you all in the checkout regret support thread
