Your not going to survive on those lol. But give me more fresh food anyday

Matticus

Where do i sign up for these?

Lucy05

I am always wary when something sounds amazing at first glance. I would only bother if the saving is real and not just headline nonsense.

Cheers for sharing that

Agree, and the implications are bigger than most people realise. Worth watching closely

I have seen that go wrong more than once. Buy slightly more materials than you need, you will always use them.

Happy to answer questions if you get stuck

Really like that take on it. Glad this came up

RustyHawk

I had been looking at it the wrong way I think. The more I read about this the more I realise how much I do not know.

That helps a lot actually

TheRizz

Hmm, I found different. Good to hear other people's experience

Jan79

That checks out. I will keep an eye on it. :P

Keep an eye on it, yes. The best deals are usually the ones that do not get advertised loudly.

Every bit helps at the moment
Here more than I should be

NovaPrime68

Still think the same, yeah. Interested to see where this goes. :(

Maxximus

The way this has been framed in the media does not quite match the underlying detail. From what I have seen the gap between headlines and reality is still pretty wide.

I will keep following it

GlassKnight89

I am not sure that is always the case. Appreciate the discussion

Piston

Yeah pretty much. Good stuff

Golden Tara

That is one way of looking at it. Every time without fail.

What's your setup like this year?

I'm trying containers for the first time instead of full beds, hoping it reduces the chaos but I'm not confident

Quarry

There's something oddly hopeful about seed packets arriving.

Feels like you're being handed potential rather than just stuff, if that makes sense

Seb51

Honestly free seeds are how half my gardening addiction started.

One packet turns into "I'll just try this" and suddenly you've got a full growing calendar and no spare weekends

Aaron

Honestly I think half the fun is just experimenting.

Worst case they don't grow, best case you accidentally discover your new favourite crop

BiscuitTin46

I once planted free seeds and completely forgot what they were halfway through the season.

Ended up with a mystery plant I just called "Steve" until it finally produced something edible

ParallelSelf34

If they're herbs, you're about to have way too much of them at once.

Every year I swear I'll only plant a little, and every year I end up drowning in basil or coriander

EthanHinds

Nice, what did you end up getting? Always exciting when seeds arrive, feels like the real start of the season.

I still get that little buzz opening a packet of seeds even if I've grown the same thing before. Weirdly satisfying every time

What are you planning to grow with them?

I've found the free seed packs can actually be surprisingly good quality sometimes, not just random leftovers like people assume
I read every reply. Even the bad ones.

IronFist56

I got mine today too, same delivery batch maybe.

Already planning where to plant everything even though half my garden space is probably already overcommitted. Classic mistake
Have you tried turning it off and on again?

BiscuitTin

Don't underestimate them just because they're free.

Some of the best tomatoes I've ever grown came from a free sample pack I nearly threw in a drawer and forgot about

GhostRider63

I always treat free seed packs like a mystery box.

Sometimes it's basic stuff, sometimes it's something I've never even heard of and end up googling for an hour before planting

MondayMoan

Hope you've got decent soil ready.

Seeds are one thing, but getting them to actually thrive is where the real challenge starts. Especially if the weather decides to act up

StringTheory97

I like how gardening turns into long-term planning without you even noticing.

You start with a few seeds and suddenly you're thinking months ahead like it's some kind of agricultural chess game

BlackMamba35

Free seeds always feel like a little dare from the universe.

Like "go on then, see if you can actually grow these" and I somehow take it personally every time

RicFlair_X

I've had mixed luck with free seed packs.

Some germinate like crazy, others just sit there pretending to do something until I give up and plant something else in the same spot
It's only banter... mostly

WWEPete45

Free seeds are dangerous in the best way.

They trick you into thinking gardening is simple and then three months later you're arguing with slugs at 11pm

SilverRider

I'd love to know if they're the kind that need early indoor starting or straight into soil.

That makes a huge difference in success rate, especially if spring weather is being unpredictable

CodyRhodes99

I still have a drawer full of old seed packets I keep meaning to use.

At this point I think I'm running a low-effort botanical archive more than a garden

Daemon55

Let us know how they turn out later in the season.

It's always interesting to see what actually performs well versus what just looks good on paper

HeartbreakKidOscar97

If you get a good harvest from free seeds, that's basically winning the gardening lottery.

Low cost, high satisfaction, and you get to casually act like you planned it all along
