Plenty of people cycle through Arch, Fedora, Mint and half a dozen others before quietly settling somewhere. What's your actual daily driver right now and what finally made the others fall away.

After years of hopping between Arch, Fedora, and openSUSE, Debian is the one I keep returning to. It is not the most exciting answer, but it is predictable, well documented, and boring in the best possible way. My workstation can go months without needing attention beyond normal updates.

The stable packages are a feature for this use case. I would rather spend an evening working than investigating why a new desktop component changed behaviour after an update. When I want newer software, containers and Flatpak cover most of the gap without turning the base system into a science project.
