Something I keep seeing asked and never getting a decent answer.

Real world performance is what matters, not benchmark numbers. 8)

Any thoughts welcome.

Yeah that is the sensible route. The amount of time people spend on complicated fixes when the answer is usually a startup item is remarkable.

Should sort it if the basics are fine.

Worked for me too. Good to know about.

An SSD upgrade is still the single biggest performance gain on most older machines.

Yeah can't really argue with that. The price matters more than it used to, I am much more selective about what I buy full price.

I love the way you put that. It is the kind of thing that rewards sitting with it rather than reacting immediately.

There is a lot more to say about this.

The browser is often the biggest resource hog on most machines.

Basically my experience exactly. When I ran into something similar the biggest improvement came from stripping things back and checking the obvious basics first.

That is how I would approach it anyway.

Software bloat is half the problem and it gets worse with every update.
