Everyone has a desk setup and everyone thinks theirs is either embarrassingly chaotic or secretly better than they admit. The reality is most setups are functional compromises between what you'd like and what you actually have space and budget for. Some people have beautiful monitor arms and cable management that would make a professional videographer weep with joy. Others have a laptop on a kitchen table with a mug of cold tea and that is equally valid.

Laptop on a stand with external keyboard and mouse. Looks minimal. Took three years to get to this simplicity from a much more complicated setup

Cable management done properly makes a setup feel completely different. Same hardware, cables hidden, suddenly it looks intentional

Plant on the desk. Sounds trivial. Having something alive in your workspace changes the feel of the room in ways that are hard to quantify

Good lighting. Not overhead fluorescent. A proper desk lamp with warm light. The difference in how long I can work comfortably is significant
