Browser tabs reveal a lot about a person. Some people keep two or three open and close them as soon as they are finished. Others have hundreds spread across several windows, each one representing something they fully intend to read later. Then there are people who have no idea how many tabs they have, because the icons became too small to see a long time ago

Modern browsers have tried to help, with tab groups, vertical tabs, sleeping tabs that save memory and reading lists. Extensions can save sessions, suspend inactive tabs or turn them into lists. Still, many people seem to treat their browser as a to do list, a bookmark folder and a memory aid all at once

I will confess first. Right now, I have forty seven tabs open across three windows. At least ten of them are articles I opened weeks ago and still mean to read. One is a recipe from last Christmas. I cannot close it in case I need it again, even though I have the recipe saved elsewhere

There is something about tab hoarding that feels very human. Closing a tab can feel like admitting you will never read that article or buy that thing. Some people find a clean browser calming, while others find comfort in having everything to hand

How many tabs do you have open right now? Be honest, and tell us the oldest one
