Apple has scheduled a special event for Tuesday 13 October under the tagline Welcome home, 9to5Mac reports. Greg Joswiak posted the teaser, and press invitations describe an Apple experience in Tribeca, New York, at 9am Eastern time. That is 2pm here in the UK. Marques Brownlee shared the invite with the caption Apple Home event invites just dropped

9to5Mac lists the expected launches as a new Apple TV 4K, the long rumoured HomePad smart display and a second generation HomePod mini. None of those is confirmed by Apple. Earlier Bloomberg reporting said Apple planned to unveil a smart home hub, a new HomePod mini and an Apple TV 4K with Siri AI on 13 October. It just did not say whether there would be an event

The home theme is hard to miss. Welcome home is about as clear a hint as Apple ever gives. The HomePad has been rumoured for a long time, with repeated delays reportedly linked to the new Siri. If it finally launches, it would be Apple's first proper answer to the Echo Show and the Google Nest Hub

The Apple TV 4K is overdue for an update, and the HomePod mini has been on the same hardware for years. Both could do with newer chips if Apple wants them to run its AI features. A second generation HomePod mini with better sound and a newer chip would sell well. Sound quality was always the main complaint about the original

An event in Tribeca rather than at Apple Park suggests something smaller and more hands on. The OLED iPad mini rumoured for later this month could also turn up, although home products are clearly the focus. Either way, Apple has a busy October ahead. I will be watching to see whether Siri gets more than a passing mention

Would you buy an Apple smart display? And what do you want to see in a new Apple TV?
