Two significant Anthropic infrastructure stories emerged this week. CNBC confirmed that Microsoft and Anthropic are in discussions for Anthropic to use Microsoft's custom Maia 200 AI chips through Azure, which would be a win for Microsoft against Amazon and Google in the custom silicon supply market. The Maia 200 was announced in January and currently runs OpenAI's GPT-5.2.

Separately, SpaceX disclosed in filings that Anthropic will pay 1.25 billion dollars per month through May 2029 for computing power from SpaceX infrastructure. That is 15 billion dollars annually in a single compute contract.
