Stablecoins are often described as crypto dollars, but their use depends on context. They can help people move value quickly between exchanges, hold a dollar-like balance without leaving the crypto world, send payments across borders, or use decentralised finance without constantly touching volatile coins. The interesting discussion is whether stablecoins become a bridge between traditional finance and crypto, or whether they mostly remain plumbing for traders.

For traders, stablecoins are basically the cash layer of crypto. They make moving in and out of positions much easier.

Cross-border payments are the more interesting use case to me, especially where banking is slow or expensive.

I think stablecoins will become normal payment plumbing before most people realise they are using them.

The bridge idea is right. Stablecoins are less exciting than Bitcoin, but they may be more practical day to day.
