Siri is getting much more capable in Apple's next software update. 9to5Mac reports that the iOS 27.3 beta adds a long list of new Siri AI actions across Apple's own apps, with public release expected later this year

Siri can now create Music playlists from a spoken prompt, schedule, edit and unsend Messages, work with rich text in Notes, and edit Photos or rename people and pets. It can also create Calendar invites with video links, flag urgent Reminders, manage Safari tab groups and history, and work with Journal for the first time, along with Files, Maps, Weather, Preview and Shortcuts

A companion article explains that third party developers can now create app skills that teach Siri multi step actions. Apple's example involves sending a user's favourite sneakers to their partner through a messaging app

Siri can also route a request to the right app without being told its name, for example by using an active Live Activity. The changes cover iOS and macOS 27.3 and related releases. They are in beta, and the article includes no quotes from Apple

After years of criticism, Siri finally seems to be doing useful things across the whole system. Opening it to third party apps is the most important part, because that is where people spend most of their time. If it works reliably, it could change how people use their iPhones

Will these Siri improvements change how you use your iPhone? And which app would you most like Siri to control?
