Stood in front of a Rothko for the first time expecting to feel nothing, it's literally just blocks of color, and instead genuinely got emotional in a way I still can't fully explain to people who haven't experienced it themselves

There's usually one specific moment people can point to where art stopped being decoration and started actually meaning something, curious what that piece was for other people here and what it actually did to shift things
