What is a completely overrated art movement that everyone seems to love except you

[Arty Scout]

Abstract expressionism, genuinely don't get the reverence, a lot of it looks like paint got splashed around with zero intention and I feel like I'm supposed to pretend to see profound meaning that isn't actually there

Not trying to start an actual fight, more curious what movement or era people genuinely can't connect with despite it being widely celebrated everywhere

[Dom0]

Cubism, I understand the historical significance intellectually but I've never once felt anything looking at a Picasso from that period, purely academic appreciation for me

[HeartbreakKid]

Pop art specifically Warhol, feels more like clever marketing dressed up as fine art than anything I actually connect with emotionally

[FrostDrifter]

Minimalism, a single canvas painted one solid color hanging in a museum has never once moved me despite trying to understand the appeal

[TheLegendJohn32]

Surrealism honestly, Dali gets so much reverence and a lot of it just feels like weird imagery for the sake of being weird rather than meaningful

[Cognition]

Conceptual art broadly, when the idea matters more than the actual execution I lose interest almost immediately regardless of how clever the concept is

[Georgia67]

Impressionism gets so much universal love and I've never connected with the blurry soft focus style the way everyone else seems to

[AlexaBliss_Fan]

Renaissance religious painting specifically, technically stunning I'll admit, but the subject matter repetition across basically every single piece bores me after the first few museum rooms
