Phone cameras have become so good that many of our favourite photos now come from the device in our pocket rather than a dedicated camera. The best camera, as the saying goes, is the one you have with you. Some of the most memorable shots happen by accident, on a dog walk, a commute or a trip to the shops. I would love to see what everyone has captured

Post your best phone photo, or describe it if you would rather not share the image itself. Tell us where it was taken, what phone you used and whether you edited it at all. The story behind a photo is often as interesting as the picture. Did you plan the shot, or did you just get lucky?

Mine was taken on a foggy morning by a canal, with a heron standing perfectly still on a lock gate. I only had a few seconds before it flew off, and I took the photo on an old phone with a cracked lens. Somehow the crack added a soft glow that made it look painterly. It is still my lock screen three years later. Some of my favourite shots were taken by complete accident

Any subject is welcome. Landscapes, pets, street scenes, food, sunsets or the odd accidental masterpiece. Please only share photos you took yourself, and be mindful of posting pictures of other people without their permission

Mine is a sunset over the Norfolk coast, taken on a cheap phone in about 2019. No editing at all, the sky just did all the work. People assume I used filters, and I never correct them

Golden light over the marshes, a few birds in silhouette. Phones have no business taking photos that good
