A good forum AI assistant would not pretend to be a normal member. It would help with practical jobs: summarising long threads, spotting likely duplicate topics, suggesting better search terms, translating difficult posts, flagging possible rule issues, and helping moderators see what needs attention. Used carefully, it could make a forum easier to run while keeping the human community at the centre

Duplicate topic detection alone would be useful. It is annoying for regulars and confusing for newcomers when the same question appears every week

Thread summaries would be brilliant as long as the original discussion stays visible. The summary should be a map, not a replacement

Moderation support is where I would be cautious. Flagging is fine, but automatic punishment would cause trouble fast

SilverRider

I like the idea of a forum assistant that admits it is a tool. The moment it starts pretending to be a person, the trust problem begins
