The tricky part with tools like this is that the technology itself is not the whole story. A paintbrush can create something amazing or someone can use it to fake a signature, and the same argument applies here.

The appearance editing side is where people get nervous because faces feel personal. A small change can go from harmless fun to something misleading very quickly.

Clear labels and permissions seem like the boring answer, but boring rules usually exist because somebody already caused a mess.

The backlash does not surprise me, but I think some of the criticism gets mixed together. There is a difference between improving a photo you took and creating a fake image of someone who never agreed to it.

Nvidia and other companies are going to have to explain the limits of these systems better. A flashy demo is great until people start asking what happens outside the demo room.

The funny thing is that every major image tool goes through this stage. New camera features, filters, even old editing software all had people asking similar questions.

Powerful technology always creates a strange period where society is trying to catch up. We get the gadget first and the rules arrive later with a clipboard.

The useful question for me is not whether these tools should exist. They probably will exist regardless. The question is who controls them and how much responsibility the creator has.

A system that helps artists experiment is very different from a system designed to fool people. That distinction needs to stay visible.

There is a valid concern here, but banning everything new because it can be misused is a dead end. Cars, cameras and the internet all went through the same debate.

The bigger issue is trust. If people cannot tell what is real, every photo starts becoming questionable.

Maybe the future needs better verification tools alongside better generation tools. Fighting AI with more AI sounds a bit ridiculous, but that is probably where we are heading
