Streaming did not ruin movies, but it definitely changed the relationship people have with them. A movie used to be something you saved up for. Now it can feel like another notification waiting on your screen.

There is also a strange pressure where everyone feels they need to keep up. If you do not watch a new release immediately, you risk missing the conversation entirely.

Maybe the answer is bringing back some intentional viewing. Pick a movie, turn off distractions, and actually watch it. Sounds simple, but apparently that is the difficult part now.

The funny thing is that people complained about home video the same way years ago. Every new format seems to get blamed for killing the previous one. VHS, DVDs, digital rentals, now streaming.

The difference is the speed. Streaming moves everything so quickly that movies have less time to breathe. A film can become available worldwide and then disappear from discussion almost immediately.

A little patience from viewers would help too. Not every movie needs to be judged by opening weekend numbers or internet reactions. Some things are better when they are allowed to sit with you.
