Topic: What is Azure Agent Mesh and why does multi-agent orchestration matter for enterprise AI deployments   Views(Read 35 times)

Q

Microsoft announced Azure Agent Mesh at Build 2026 yesterday. The system handles orchestration of multiple AI agents working across cloud and on-device environments, coordinating their work, managing permissions, and providing governance visibility.

The enterprise AI deployment problem that Agent Mesh addresses: a single agent doing a bounded task is manageable. A hundred agents across an organisation running autonomous tasks against enterprise data systems is a governance and coordination challenge that requires infrastructure. Agent 365, Microsoft's enterprise control plane for AI agents, reached general availability on May 1. Agent Mesh is the cloud infrastructure that Agent 365 coordinates.

Multi-agent orchestration is the infrastructure problem that every enterprise deploying AI at scale is encountering but few vendors have addressed comprehensively. Agent Mesh is Microsoft's answer

Governance visibility is the feature enterprise compliance teams actually require. Not just that agents are running but what they are doing, what data they are accessing, and what decisions they are making

The cloud and on-device coordination is the hybrid requirement that matches how enterprise IT actually works. Some workloads need to stay on-device for compliance. Others benefit from cloud scale. Agent Mesh routing between both is the practical requirement

Entra Agent ID giving each agent a managed identity is the security architecture that makes audit trails possible. If agents can act on behalf of users without individual identities the compliance story collapses

The KPMG and PwC Claude deployments at 276,000 and similar scale people are exactly the deployment size where this infrastructure is necessary rather than optional
