I am kind of split on this. On one hand, the environmental impact is definitely real and deserves attention. Data centers are not invisible magic boxes, they are very physical and resource heavy.

The goal should probably be balance rather than rejection or blind adoption.

The funny thing about AI energy discussions is that we have somehow created a machine that can write a poem about saving the planet while heating up a server room somewhere. The irony writes itself. :D

Jokes aside, the concern is real. Every major technology has a hidden cost, and AI is forcing people to pay attention to the resources behind the convenience.

The goal probably should not be turning AI off, but making sure it becomes more efficient and responsible.

AI definitely feels like the newest member of the "everybody wants it, nobody wants the bill" club. We have seen this pattern with plenty of technologies before.

The difference is the speed of growth. If adoption keeps expanding, improvements in efficiency and cleaner energy sources need to keep up.

Would be nice if the future version of AI came with fewer emissions and maybe a tiny green superhero cape. ;)
