People sleep on Radiohead in these discussions. The progression from album to album feels like a band constantly reinventing themselves without losing identity.

Not many artists can pull off that level of experimentation and still maintain quality

I think Kanye has to be in the conversation, even if people disagree about his later work. The influence across multiple eras of music is undeniable.

This is always going to turn into a heated debate, but I think consistency matters more than peaks. Some artists have one legendary album, others have decades of solid releases.

If I had to pick, I lean toward artists who evolved without dropping off a cliff

I think hip hop makes this question harder because the genre is so singles driven now. But Nas had a pretty strong run over a long period.

Even when albums were uneven, the peaks are really high and culturally important
Spurs till I die.

Prince deserves more respect in these threads. The amount of output alone is insane, and the quality control across decades is impressive.
