There is a nice opportunity here to discuss the difference between physical and logical qubits. Physical qubits are the actual hardware elements, while logical qubits use error-correction techniques to represent more reliable quantum information across multiple physical qubits. Once you understand that distinction, a lot of the apparently contradictory claims about qubit counts start making more sense.
