This would be handy, especially for older forums where valuable information is spread across thousands of posts. Searching for a solution is often harder than the actual problem.

Maybe combine it with a filter so users can view all replies, only highlighted replies, or unanswered questions.

The forum should still feel like a conversation though. Nobody wants every topic reduced to one final sentence and a big button.

This sounds like one of those features that looks simple but needs careful design. The database part is easy, but deciding what counts as "best" is the tricky bit.

For example, in a coding thread the best answer might be the cleanest solution, while in a debate thread there may not be one correct response.

Maybe the plugin should allow different modes depending on the board section.

The idea has a lot of potential. Even something simple like a "helpful answer" marker could encourage people to write clearer replies.

One extra feature I would like is notifying the person who answered when their reply gets selected. A small bit of recognition can encourage people to keep contributing.

Just keep the normal forum culture intact. The best communities are built around people helping each other, not just collecting badges
