I want to see the Mona Lisa?

The Mona Lisa is one of those things where the crowd actually becomes part of the memory. Years later you might remember the chaos, the people around you, and the excitement as much as the painting.

Would it be nicer with fewer people? Of course. But famous places usually come with famous problems.

There is something quite cool about seeing an artwork that has been discussed by millions of people for generations. Even the people complaining about it are still standing there looking at it

Visited during peak season and the biggest surprise was how quickly the whole thing moves. You get your turn, take a look, maybe take a photo, and then the crowd naturally pushes everyone along.

Some people hate that, but I think it keeps the experience from becoming stressful. Nobody is standing there for an hour blocking everyone else.

The rest of the Louvre deserves just as much attention though. The Mona Lisa gets the headlines, but the museum is the real star.
