One thing I have noticed is that AI features tend to expand over time. They start small and then gradually take up more space.

So even if it looks clean now, it might not stay that way.

That is probably what people are reacting to more than the current state.

I think the best-case scenario is that AI becomes invisible infrastructure rather than a visible layer.

Instead of adding panels, it just improves ranking, suggestions, and relevance behind the scenes.

That would keep the interface clean while still benefiting from the technology.

There is also the trust factor. If AI summaries become prominent, people need to trust that they are accurate and not misleading.

Otherwise, it adds friction instead of removing it.

A clean interface does not help much if the content itself is questionable.

I am a bit more positive about it. If done right, it could reduce the need to click through low-quality pages and ads.

That alone would be a big win for users.

But I share the concern that it should not dominate every search experience.
