The funny thing is how fast we went from "AI-powered" being a marketing gimmick to it just being assumed. Like, nobody is going to clap because your fridge can optimize cooling cycles anymore. That is baseline now. What stood out to me from CES wasn't the flashy robots, it was all the invisible stuff quietly making devices less annoying to use.

Battery optimization in particular feels like the real battlefield. If AI can actually squeeze an extra day out of phones, wearables, or even EV systems, that is way more impactful than a robot waving at you on stage. The boring wins tend to age the best.

Also a bit of skepticism creeping in. When everything has AI, does anything really have AI? Feels like we are heading toward another wave of vague claims that will need a couple years to settle into reality :-\

Not convinced this is entirely a good thing. There is something slightly exhausting about every product trying to be "smart" now. Sometimes I just want a device to do one job reliably without learning my habits or predicting what I might want next.

The power management angle is interesting though, I will give you that. If AI can dynamically adjust performance without users noticing, that is the kind of improvement people actually stick around for. Quiet upgrades beat flashy demos most of the time.

Still, I keep thinking about maintenance and longevity. More AI baked in usually means more complexity, more updates, and more things that can break over time. We might be trading simplicity for convenience without really realizing it yet.

The robot demos always feel like CES theatre to me. Fun, impressive, gets headlines... and then disappears. Meanwhile the "weird categories" you mentioned are where actual money and adoption happen.

Power management, thermal control, even AI-assisted manufacturing tweaks, that is the stuff that ends up in millions of devices within a year. Nobody writes articles about a smarter voltage regulator, but it probably impacts more people than any humanoid robot demo :)

There is also a pattern here. Every big shift in tech starts loud and then goes quiet. AI feels like it is crossing that line now. Less spectacle, more infrastructure. Which is probably a sign it is actually maturing.

Kind of wild how quickly the narrative flipped. A couple years ago people were debating whether AI belonged in consumer gadgets at all, now it is basically a requirement to stay competitive. If your product doesn't have some form of it, it almost looks outdated.

That said, I think we are heading toward a differentiation problem. If every TV, laptop, and appliance claims AI-driven optimization, the real question becomes who is doing it well versus who is just ticking a box. That is going to separate the brands pretty fast.

And yeah, the quiet categories are where I would be looking too. Battery tech, energy efficiency, predictive maintenance... not exciting on stage, but those are the features people notice after six months of actually using something.

Feels like we are entering the "invisible AI" era. No one cares about the label anymore, they care whether their device is smoother, lasts longer, or stops doing annoying things. If AI helps with that, great. If not, people will tune it out.

Also can't help but laugh at how every keynote still tries to frame something as a breakthrough when it is really just iteration. Like, congrats, your washing machine learned not to overuse water... that is good, but let's not pretend it is sci-fi ;D

The battery and power angle you mentioned is the real story though. Energy efficiency is going to matter more and more, especially with everything becoming connected. If AI can shave even small percentages across billions of devices, that adds up in a big way.

It is pretty wild seeing AI go from a niche feature to something manufacturers are putting into almost every product category. A few years ago it was all about asking whether people needed AI assistants, and now the question is more like where can companies squeeze one in next :D

The interesting thing will be separating useful features from the ones that exist mostly because the word AI looks good on a box. A smart TV that improves picture quality or helps find content makes sense. A toaster with a chatbot probably needs a little more explaining ;)

Still, this kind of adoption can lead to some unexpected ideas. Once developers have AI tools built into everyday devices, we might see uses nobody is predicting yet.
